Finding replacement Zener diodes with correct working voltage and ignition ATD units which are serviceable is fast becoming a problem area. As a result, a growing number of owners are now choosing to fit a solid state rectifier & regulator and an electronic ignition kit to overcome these issues.
However, this requires some modification to the OEM wiring loom. To adapt the existing wiring harness or new OEM replacement for the modern components requires terminals to be isolated and contact breaker wiring to be modified for electronic ignition fitment, which can make a new loom very untidy.
We are currently working on a comprehensive, UK manufactured, cloth bound wiring harness range which requires no adaptation to the specific model main harness for aftermarket ignition systems and solid state rectifier/regulator. Traditional snap connectors and insulated spade terminals are used for all the ancillary components which exit the loom in the same OEM location. Electronic ignition switch feed and earth connections exit the harness in the traditional ignition coil location for easy fitment and there is a super seal connector terminated to directly plug in to the Lucas solid state rectifier/regulator. This connector has an extension fly lead for flexibility, allowing the mounting of the rectifier/regulator in a position with good air flow.
